Hello Adrien! To start, can you introduce yourself?
Hi! My name is Adrien, I am 33 years old and I come from Carpentras, near Avignon.
I have been a professional mountain bike rider since 2013, and also a shaper ( designer and builder of bicycle tracks ).
I live in Spain for 6 months of the year, on the Costa Brava, and in Les Deux Alpes for 6 months during the summer season.
How did you discover sport and how did you get into mountain biking?
I started skateboarding at age 3, then surfing, snowboarding, and BMX around age 7.
Even today, I still practice all these sports… but it’s with cycling that I earn my living.
Surfing remains my favorite sport, it will never leave me.
What has sport brought you?
Sport has allowed me to travel extensively and meet wonderful people. Sharing has always been a great source of motivation and fulfillment for me. I love interacting with people and learning from others. I try to pass on my knowledge whenever I have the opportunity.
Can you tell us about your competitive journey?
I've been competing since I was 7, but I had to wait until I was 21 to win my first professional race. I dreamed of it, but going pro was never a plan in itself. It happened a bit like magic when I least expected it. I won my first Crankworx event in Les Deux Alpes in 2013. I was there as a tourist (denim shorts and a tank top) surrounded by MTB stars. Nobody knew me, and my overwhelming victory surprised quite a few people that day. It was a kind of personal reward after 14 years of competing and results that weren't always very impressive. It was also my entry into the professional world.
What has been your greatest sporting achievement?
In 2017, I was crowned "King of Crankworx" in Whistler, Canada. This title recognizes the most complete mountain bike rider in the world. The ranking is based on various disciplines throughout the year, and the rider with the most points wins. That year, I won races against the world's best in pumptrack, dual speed & style, dual slalom, and downhill. It was my ultimate dream, and after five years of hard work, it came true.
Sport is also about encounters. Are there any that have particularly stood out for you?
I have two brothers in spirit. One is Uruguayan, named Santi, and the other is Argentinian/Slovenian, named Bojan. I met them both through cycling, and they contributed greatly to my success in the sport. We've been through everything together, the best and the worst, and our victories are the result of teamwork. We've traveled a lot together. These are wonderful memories we share, etched in our hearts forever <3
What is your best sporting moment?
One of my best sporting days was this summer at the urbanDH in Les Deux Alpes (once again, it's like this place is magical) . My son had just been born, he was barely a month old, and I won my first race in front of him (in his mother's arms) and my whole family. It's an event I've been organizing for two years now; last year I got sick and couldn't participate. This year the world's best were there, and I got my revenge in front of the people I love most. A truly magical moment.
Why did you choose COOKNRUN?
COOKNRUN is a brand that immediately resonated with me. High-quality, simple, and effective products. All created by passionate people – it's the perfect partnership. I enjoy using top-notch products for my daily life as an athlete and I'm happy to share them with my community. The prices are reasonable, the ingredients are well-chosen, and the flavors are fantastic… all organic and made in France – it's hard to ask for more.
Do you already have a favorite product?
I haven't tried all the products yet, but when I placed my order, everything looked tempting, which is already a very good sign. The dried fruit and ginger mix is amazing, and the mint and coconut water sports drink is simply incredible. These are exactly the kind of flavors you don't easily find elsewhere, and I really love them.
What are your current goals?
I'm currently 3rd in the Red Bull Cerro Abajo Serie Urban Downhill World Championship. I'm going to do everything I can to finish on the overall podium, and of course, a little victory along the way wouldn't hurt.
Furthermore, I am still involved in the development of the Bikepark in Les 2 Alpes and I hope to welcome many more people next summer to our trails.
