Hello Lary! To begin, can you introduce yourself?
Hello, my name is Lary Arce, I'm a curious and passionate Mexican climber who loves exploring the different aspects of climbing, from bouldering to big walls. I like to reflect on what each challenge teaches us and the personal meaning it can hold.
What sport do you play? And for how long?
I practice rock climbing, which I started in 2013!
Aside from sports, what motivates you?
I am motivated by the desire to improve in all aspects of my life and to make modest but steady progress. I love talking about motivation, even though it's difficult to put into words what motivates me, because I believe motivation doesn't just appear out of thin air; it's something we cultivate. To stay motivated, I strive to build a solid foundation of discipline and allow myself to enjoy life's little pleasures after fulfilling my commitments to myself, such as reading for a while with a cup of coffee or playing the piano.
Can you share with us some highlights from your sporting career?
One experience that particularly marked me was establishing a new multi-pitch route with my climbing partner in the region where I grew up as a climber and where I'm originally from: Chihuahua, Mexico. It's a long mixed route that we opened from the ground up, spending 10 days on the wall and sleeping in a portaledge while we set it up. The route is called Southwest Rarámuri. It pushed me far outside my comfort zone: I felt a lot of fear, but I also learned a great deal from it.
What is your best performance or your most memorable sporting moment?
The moment I sent Kale Borroka, my first 8b+, was incredibly significant for me. This challenge represented an obstacle, both personal and symbolic, for me and for women's climbing in my country. By overcoming it, I realized that even though my dreams scared me, they were still possible. When I started climbing, people told me that because of my age, I probably wouldn't even reach 8a...
What is the most wonderful encounter that sport has offered you?
The encounter with myself and with what I wanted to be and do with my life. I realized there were other options, that I could say NO to things I didn't want. And follow my heart, and perhaps, be free!
…And your best day?
I think I've had many "best days of my life" lol, things almost always keep getting better! But I really appreciated the days when I realized I was finally seeing the results of all the hard work I'd been quietly putting in...
Why did you agree to join the COOKNRUN team?
Your atmosphere! The relaxed way we communicate, seeing how authentic your presence is in the environment I work in, and that the products are simply the best.
What do you like about COOKNRUN?
The values, the products. THE INGREDIENTS! I pay close attention to what I give my body and what I consume, because taking care of my diet is my way of showing my gratitude to my body and everything it has allowed me to do.
Do you have a favorite product in the range? Why that one?
Yes! The multi-fruit/goji and fig energy bars are literally the most delicious bars I've ever tasted in my life. I eat them for dessert after meals; they're addictive!
Oh, and dried mangoes! Finding one in my backpack after a day of climbing is the most exciting thing that could happen to me haha
How would you describe your partnership with COOKNRUN in a few words?
Super authentic and natural! Like a perfect match.
What are your next goals or projects?
Over the past few months, I've been training very hard. I'd like to break through the barrier again and achieve a new personal best...
What can we wish for you in the future?
Looking ahead, I want to continue growing both as a climber and as a person. I hope to take on new challenges, inspire others along the way, and continue to enjoy every step of the journey. But above all, I want to be healthy, happy, and free to pursue my passions.
One last word?
"Fear can be a trigger for action in your life. Use it wisely."
